Women's Soccer Posts Great Effort in Loss to Truett

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College women's soccer team put up a terrific defensive effort against quality conference foe Truett McConnell University (Ga.) on Wednesday evening but in the end fell short, 3-0 from Younts Stadium.

Truett scored first in the 18th minute as Annabel Trauschke scored unassisted in front of the net before adding a long kick for a goal 15 minutes later to help the Bears lead 2-0 at half.

Columbia came out in the second half attacking the goal and sending multiple shots and chances toward net but could not find the breakthrough goal. TMU then found a third goal in the 77th minute to put the game out of reach.

Freshman midfielder Elise Mayfield led with two shots while junior forward Kaky Sears recorded a shot on goal. Junior keeper Teagan Eisenring made six saves on nine shots on goal. Truett only managed to outshoot the Koalas 5-2 in the first half and 6-3 in the second and 11-5 overall as the Koalas played stellar defense throughout.
