PIKEVILLE, Ky. - The Columbia College women's soccer team rallied late from a two-goal deficit on the strength of two Malia Kincaid goals to stun the University of Pikeville (KY) and earn a solid 2-2 draw Saturday afternoon on the road with the Bears.
Kincaid, a sophomore forward, first brought the Koalas back into the game scoring in the 82nd minute on a 20 yard shot off an assist from freshman defender Grace Underwood that popped over the keeper's head and into the back of the net to get CC to within 2-1. Her second goal then came in the 90th minute of play with 17 seconds left as she scored off a shot from senior defender Alyssa Collins that ricocheted back to Kincaid. It would go on to barely drop in under the crossbar to tie the game and send the Koalas into a frenzy.
Pikeville (4-0-2) got on the board first scoring in the 22nd minute to lead 1-0 at the break. The Bears then increased their lead to 2-0 in the 70th minute and thought they had the game wrapped up. However, they did not as there is no quit in the Lady Koalas this season.
Junior goalkeeper Teagan Eisenring went on to make three saves on five shots on goal while UPike outshot the Koalas 14-8 overall, but the shot count was just 8-7 in the second half as CC dominated the second 45 minutes.
Columbia evens their record across the board at 2-2-2 overall and 0-2-1 in the AAC with the huge conference standings point and will next head back on the road to face Brenau University in North Georgia on Wednesday evening at 6 pm.
