COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College women's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 shutout victory over visiting Bluefield University on Saturday morning from Younts Stadium.
The conference win improves the Koalas to 5-3-4 on the season and into ninth place in the AAC at 2-3-3 while dropping the Rams to 1-9 overall and 0-8 in the AAC.
Sophomore forward Malia Kincaid broke open the first half scoreless game with her goal in the 33rd minute off an assist from senior midfielder Anita Lewis. Freshman midfielder Elise Mayfield then added another goal just four minutes later on an assist from senior defender Alyssa Collins as CC took a 2-0 lead into the break while outshooting the Rams 12-1.
In the second half, the Koalas made it 3-0 with another goal from Mayfield in the 52nd minute on an assist from junior midfielder Kaky Sears. Sears then added a goal herself in the 78th minute on an assist from fellow junior midfielder Kinzly Cohen to put the Koalas up 4-0.
Goalkeepers Teagan Eisenring and sophomore Camryn McCutchen combined for two saves in the game while CC outshot the Rams 22-3 as Mayfield led the team with six overall shots and four on goal.
Columbia will next head down the road a few minutes to face off with rival CIU on Wednesday in Columbia at 5 PM.
