Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 at SMC

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Columbia College women's soccer team dropped their away conference game at Spartanburg Methodist College 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon in Spartanburg.

SMC scored their first goal in the 16th minute of action to take a 1-0 lead into the break while the shot count was tied at four apiece. 

The Pioneers then scored their second goal early in the second half in the 49th minute whereas CC could not find the tying two goals they needed. Columbia was led by three shots each from junior midfielders Kinzley Cohen and Kaky Sears as well as freshman defender Grace Underwood while Underwood had two shots on goal also.

Junior goalkeeper Teagan Eisenring went on to make three saves on five shots on goal while CC outshot the Pioneers 9-6 in the second half and 13-10 overall.

The Koalas fall to 5-6-4 overall on the season and 2-6-3 in the conference while SMC improves to 6-7-4 and 3-6-3 in the AAC. 

Columbia will next return home on Thursday at 3:00 pm to host Milligan in the resumption of their suspended game from Sept. 20 when they trailed 1-0 before the game was paused for a lightning/rain delay.
