Women's Swimming Falls at Home on Senior Day
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College women's swim team fell in their home meet with Div. III Piedmont University (Ga.) and AAC foe Brenau University Saturday afternoon from Greer Natatorium. The women fell 591-268 to PU and 797-251 to Brenau.
The Lady Koala relay teams finished 4th in the 200-yard Medley Relay and then 4th again in the 200-yard Free Relay on the final event of the day. The women swam a time of 1:54.24 in the 200 Free Relay led by sophomore Sabrina Schiavon, senior Giuliana Schiavon, freshman Anna Hardwick and freshman Grace Boyce. The Ladies then recorded a time of 2:07.76 in the 200 Medley with a team of Hardwick, Boyce, G. Schiavon, and S. Schiavon.
Individually, the Koalas were led by freshman Grace Boyce as she won two events on the day. Boyce first won the 100 yard Breaststroke in 1:09.47 winning by a whopping five seconds before also taking first in the 200 IM in a time of 2:13.2 to win by an impressive 6.5 seconds.
Giuliana Schiavon also finished 5th of 7 in the 50-yard Butterfly in a time of 31.27 seconds while junior Annabelle Lee was 5th as well out of 8 in the 50-yard Backstroke in a time of 37.55 seconds. Sabrina Schiavon then placed 7th of 9 in the 50 Free in 29.5 seconds while her sister Giuliana placed 6th of 8 in the 100 Fly in a time of 1:08.76.
The women are next in the pool next Saturday in Greensboro, NC for the Greensboro College and Randolph College tri-meet at 1:00 PM.
