Women's Swimming Knocks Off Greensboro for First Win

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Columbia College women's swim team won their first meet of the season on Saturday defeating Div. III Greensboro College 97-18, but falling to D-3 Randolph College (Va.) 146-56 at the Greensboro College tri-meet in NC.

In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the Koalas were led by the team of Anna Hardwick, Grace Boyce, Giuliana Schiavon and Sabrina Schiavon as they placed 2nd in a time of 2:09.38, less than four seconds off the winning team from Randolph.

Boyce led the Lady Koalas as she won the 200 Butterfly in a time of 2:28.7 to win by about two seconds while also going on to win the 200 Breaststroke as well in a time of 2:30.58 and nearly dominating the field winning by almost 30 seconds.

In the 100 yard backstroke, junior Annabelle Lee placed 3rd in 1:19.7 while Sabrina S. was 2nd in the 100 Breaststroke in a time of 1:22.5, only a second behind the winning time from RC. Lee was also second in the 50 Free in a time of 34.1 seconds while Sabrina was third in the 100 Freestyle swimming a time of 1:08.65.

In the 100 yard Butterfly, Giuliana S. lost by just a mere second swimming a time of 1:08.39 while she was also second in the 200 IM in a time of 2:35.43, just 3.5 seconds off the winning time. Hardwick was also third in the 200 IM in 2:48.

Finally, in the 200 Free Relay, the team of S. Schiavon, Hardwick, G. Schiavon, and Boyce finished 2nd in a time of 1:56.84, falling five seconds back of the winners from Randolph.

The swim team will next be in the pool on Friday as they compete in the VMI Midseason Invitational in Cary, NC from Nov. 14-16.
