McAllister Places 15th in Hammer Throw at Outdoor Nationals
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Columbia College junior thrower Doreshia McAllister placed 15th out of 27 in the Hammer Throw at the 2026 NAIA Women's Outdoor Track and Field National Championships from UNC-Asheville's Karl Straus Track on Wednesday afternoon.
She threw a mark of 50.97 meters (167 ft) to finish 5th in her heat, just missing the top 9 cutoff to qualify for the finals. The nearly 51-meter throw was the second-best of her career behind her AAC Championship throw last month.
McAllister, a native of Hartsville, SC and the Outdoor AAC Hammer Throw Champion, was making her first appearance at the National Championships. McAllister is coming off throwing her personal-best and a school-record mark of 52.38 meters at the AAC Championships back in April and was seeded 22nd at the National tournament. She helped the Lady Koalas finish 2nd at the AAC Outdoor Meet.
The men's track and field team will next compete at Nationals on Thursday in the 400 meters and 4x400 meter relay.
