Lady Lions hand Koalas season opening loss in Volleyball

The Columbia College Women's Volleyball Team traveled to Emmanuel College on Tuesday, August 27th to start their season.  The Koalas fought hard for three matches but fell to Emmanuel.

The Lady Lions beat Columbia 25-20 in the first match, 30-28 in a very hard fought second match, and 25-13 in the final third match.  Coach Katie Welsh was quick to praise her team, "It is a promising start to our season.  We have a lot of talent on the team this year.  We are excited about the season and the results we will achieve."

For the Koalas, Richelle Prijic, a freshman from San Diego, CA, led the team with 11 kills, she was followed by Danielle Pettigrew, a junior from Iowa City, Iowa, with 4 kills.  Jacqui Anderson, a senior from Brea, CA, had 22 assists and Chloe Perkins, a junior from West Columbia, SC, had 13 digs in the match.

The Women's Volleyball team heads to Houston, Texas on Thursday, August 29th, to play in the University of St. Thomas Labor Day Volleyball Tournament.  Good luck to the Coach Welsh and the Volleyball team.
