Koala Volleyball Sweeps St. Andrews
LAURINBURG, N.C. - The Columbia College volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 win over AAC foe St. Andrews University on the road in NC Tuesday night.
The Lady Koalas won the match via scores of 25-19, 25-13, and 25-21 to earn their second victory of the season and first conference win. CC hit .143 in the first set on 14 kills before totaling 15 kills over the next two sets and holding SAU (0-9) to just 10 kills.
Senior middle blocker Destiny Brown led Columbia with a season-high 13 kills, 2 digs, a block and 2 aces while hitting .476. Senior OH Jada Gentry also played well recording four kills with 11 digs.
Sophomore setter Debra Shephard led the team with 24 assists and 17 digs for her second double-double of the season while also posting two kills and an ace. Senior middle Mikayla Stout also added six kills while senior DS Amanda Velez notched a season-high 13 digs and two aces. Freshman libero Katie Roberts added 8 digs, 2 assists and an ace as well.
Columbia (2-7, 1-2 AAC) will next make their first road trip of the season as they head to Tennessee on Friday to battle Johnson University at 5:30 before facing Union College on Saturday.
