Volleyball Falls on the Road at Brenau
GAINESVILLE, Ga. - The Columbia College Volleyball fell 3-0 on the road at AAC foe Brenau University in Georgia Tuesday evening.
Brenau won by scores of 25-8, 25-16, and 25-18 in the three-set match. BU had 12 kills and hit .400 as they cruised in the first set. The Tigers then jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the second set before going on to win 25-16. In the third set, Columbia got out to a 7-4 lead before BU went on a 10-2 run to lead 14-9. Unfortunately, CC could get no closer than four points during the remainder of the third set as BU won the match via a 25-18 score.
CC was led by 7 kills and four digs from junior outside hitter Maranda Bird while fellow OH, sophomore Tamia Fripp added four kills.
Defensively, sophomore libero Katie Roberts added eight digs while senior middle blocker Destiny Brown posted 2 kills and 5 blocks. Setters Debra Shephard and Leticia Assen also combined for 16 assists, 5 digs and an ace.
Columbia falls to 3-20 overall and 3-11 in the AAC with the loss while Brenau improves to 9-3 in the conference and in a tie for 4th place and 12-8 overall.
The Koalas will next go back on the road to Tennessee to battle Milligan in the teams' first meeting of the season on Friday evening.
