Columbia Volleyball Ousts Montreat in 4 Sets

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College volleyball team rallied from a set down to defeat Montreat College 3-1 at home on Halloween Night Friday evening.

The win gives CC their 4th conference win of the season as they look to qualify for the conference tournament in mid-November improving to 4-12.

The Koalas will be right back in action tomorrow to host Truett McConnell (Ga.) on Senior Day at 11:00 am. Senior day will begin at approximately 10:30 am.

CC dropped the opening set to the Cavaliers 17-25 before rallying to defeat MC 25-18 in the second set, 25-14 in the third and 25-17 in the fourth set.

Senior middle blocker Destiny Brown led the Koalas with 13 kills hitting .231 while three other Koalas also finished in double-figure kills. Freshman right side hitter Kameron Turner had 10 kills and four digs and hit .286 while sophomore outside hitter Tamia Fripp had 12 kills and 6 digs while junior outside hitter Maranda Bird also posted 12 kills with 7 digs and four aces.

Junior setter Debra Shephard had another terrific game notching 49 assists, four digs, an ace and a kill. Sophomore libero Katie Roberts also had 13 digs, two aces and a kill while senior middle Savanna Logan had four kills as well.

Columbia totaled 53 kills to Montreat's 34 while hitting .192.
