Women's XC Finishes 7th at AACs

KNOXVILLE, TN - The Columbia College women's cross country team finished 7th of 12 teams on Friday at the 2024 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Cross Country championship from Knoxville.

Milligan edged out Montreat 31-34 for the title while Heather Murphy won the 6K (3.7 mile) race in a time of 20:33.

Leading the Koalas was junior Juliana Gonzalez as she finished 35th overall out of 92 in a time of 24:30 while senior Mina Shull came in second on CC placing 40th overall in 24:58. Freshman Avarose Buccino then ran a time of 25:48 to finish 46th while sophomore Jennyfer Vigueras crossed the line in 27:02 to finish 55th.

Junior Isabelle Jensen was the last Lady Koala to score placing 87th in her debut in a time of 35:56. Also racing was fellow junior Giuliana Schiavon, who also made her debut and finished 89th in 39:43.

CC's 7th place finish saw them finish ahead of Bryan, TWU, Union, CIU, and Pikeville while the Koalas were only five points behind Truett McConnell for 6th.

Shull was also named to the AAC All-Academic team as well.
