Women's XC Finishes 4th at BJU Night Classic

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Columbia College cross country teams competed at the Bruins Night XC 4K Classic Friday evening at Bob Jones University in Greenville. The women came away with a 4th place finish out of 13 full squad of teams and 16 teams overall while the men finished 8th among 14 schools.

The Ladies finished with 154 points finishing ahead of Div. II teams such as King, Young Harris, Newberry, Emmanuel and USC-Beaufort while Brenau was third, Mars Hill second, and Div. II North Georgia coming in first. The Lady Koalas were second among NAIA schools.

Leading Columbia in the 2.5 mile race was senior Juliana Gonzalez finishing 19th overall and 3rd among NAIA in 16:22 while junior Avarose Buccino and freshman Annsley Howle finished 28th and 29th overall in times of 16:42 and 16:45 respectively.

Coming in 4th and 5th on the Koalas were freshman Aja Rushing and junior Jennyfer Vigueras as they each placed 43rd and 44th overall in times of 17:24 and 17:27. Freshman Alissa McCann then ran as an individual and finished 54th in 17:48.

The Koalas will next head to Greenville again next Saturday to compete in the Furman University 6K Invitational at 9:45 AM.
