Koala Men Shut Out Montreat on the Road

BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. - The Columbia College men's soccer team rolled to a 3-0 shutout win on the road at Montreat College Wednesday afternoon.

A scoreless first half saw the Koalas lead just 3-2 in the shot count before CC went out and broke the stalemate less than two minutes into the second half as freshman forward Matthias Dennis scored in the 46th minute off an assist from junior defender Andre Jackson. Dennis would then score again just 10 minutes later on a penalty kick after being fouled in the box for his 5th goal of the season.

Columbia then added a third insurance goal five minutes later in the 62nd minute as freshman forward Jacob Madeiros scored his 5th goal of the season off an assist from sophomore midfielder Abner Madrid. Senior goalkeeper Nathan Huff made one save on one shot on goal while MC peppered 11 shots on him in the second half.

Columbia improves to 4-3-2 on the season and 2-2-2 in the conference with 8 points as they currently sit in 7th place out of 13 teams. Montreat falls to 2-8-1 and 1-4-1 in the AAC.

The Koalas are next in action on Saturday night at 7pm when they go back on the road to battle Reinhardt University (2-5-2) in Georgia.
