COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College women's soccer team took on their crosstown rival, Columbia International, on the road Wednesday evening but went down 3-0 in Columbia.
CIU scored all three of their goals in the first half striking first in the 29th minute of play. They then added their second goal just three minutes later in the 32nd minute before adding another right before intermission in the 43rd minute. CIU outshot the Koalas 9-1 in the first half and 7-5 in the second half.
Columbia posted four corner kicks and four shots on goal led by two shots apiece from senior defender Kimia Hughey and junior midfielder Kaky Sears.
Junior goalkeeper Teagan Eisenring went on to make 5 saves on 8 shots on goal to suffer the loss.
Columbia falls to 5-4-4 with the loss and 2-4-3 in the conference to remain in 9th place with 9 points while CIU improves to 11-3-1 and 8-2-1 in the AAC to remain in first place with 25 points.
The Lady Koalas will next head to Knoxville, TN to battle Johnson University on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
