Lady Koalas Shut Out Allen 5-0 In Home Opener

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College women's soccer christened their brand new turf field by dominating Div. II Allen University 5-0 from Younts Stadium Friday evening. 

The duo of sophomore forward Malia Kincaid and midfielder Kaky Sears led the Koalas with 2 goals apiece while senior midfielder Kimia Hughey added a fifth goal.

Sears opened the scoring in the 5th minute off an assist from Elise Mayfield before Kincaid added her first goal a minute later on an assist from Sears. Kincaid then scored her second of the game in the 14th minute on another assist from Sears to take a 3-0 lead and a 17-2 shot advantage into the break.

Six minutes into the second half, Hughey would score the 4th goal of the game for CC knocking it in off yet another assist from Sears. Sears then scored the final goal of the game in the 60th minute on an assist from Kincaid this time.

Columbia outshot the Yellowjackets 23-3 overall led by Kincaid attempting 9 shots while keepers Teagan Eisenring and Camryn McCutchen each recorded a save.

The 1-0 Koalas will next turn around to host NAIA foe Rio Grande University (OH) on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
