Pikeville Too Strong For Koala Volleyball

PIKEVILLE, Ky. - The Columbia College volleyball team faced a stiff test on the road against the University of Pikeville on Saturday going down in 3 sets in Kentucky.

UP won the first set 25-10 on 9 kills  while CC made 10 attack errors followed by a 25-8 win in set two and a 25-17 victory in set three on 18 kills hitting .387.

Columbia was led by three kills each from middles Destiny Brown and freshman Melodi Paige while combining for four blocks. Senior setter Lottie Assen led with 9 assists, 5 digs, an ace and a block while libero Katie Roberts had five digs, 2 assists and an ace. Freshman right side Kameron Turner then had 7 digs, 2 kills and 3 aces.

Columbia falls to 2-14 overall and 2-5 in the conference while UPike improves to 8-9 overall and 5-1 in the league, good for 2nd place. 

CC returns home to host Brenau University on Tuesday at 6:30 pm.
