Koalas Fall to #6 Lee University
COLUMBIA, S.C. - Despite a strong second half effort, the Columbia College basketball team fell 82-59 to #6 ranked Lee University. Junior Emmie Bland recorded 25 points and 13 rebounds in the loss, both game highs.
The combination of a slow start for the Koalas and hot shooting for Lee University led to a 44-17 halftime deficit. Columbia put up 42 points in the second half to close the gap, including 18-of-21 from the free throw line, but never got within 20 points. Kiara Fefie and Kiristen Robinson added 16 and 10 points respectively. Brooke McKinnon scored a team high 16 points for Lee, who had four players in double figures.
The Koalas will travel to Montreat College on Feb. 8 to try and avenge a 65-57 loss in the preseason.
