Royals Commits to Columbia
LUGOFF, S.C. - Lindsey Hughes, head tennis coach at Columbia College, announced the addition of Lydia Royals to the tennis team for the 2011-2012 season. Royals, a senior at Lugoff-Elgin High School, has been a part of the Lady Demons' tennis program for four years.
Coached by Zoe Dommel, Royals earned the number one singles position this year and led her team through a competitive schedule this past fall. Royals is excited about the opportunity to become a student-athlete at Columbia College and hopes to be successful as a player and a student.
Coach Hughes commented about Royals joining the program, "I'm excited Lydia will be joining our tennis team. Lydia has great potential and will be an asset to our growing program." The Fighting Koalas will be competing in the Appalachian Athletic Conference in the fall of 2011.
