Columbia Golf adds Stewart in 2012
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College Fighting Koalas are proud to welcome Devyn Stewart as another member of the 2012 recruiting class. Devyn is from Peachtree City, GA, and comes to Columbia from Starr’s Mill High School.
Under the tutelage of LPGA coach Maeve Cromwell, Devyn has a great history in the game of golf, both at the high school and Jr. PGA levels. At Starr’s Mill, she was named Most Outstanding Golfer her Sophomore, Junior, and Senior seasons, and was the 3rd place low medalist in Region competition her junior year. She also received the A.C.E award from the Hank Haney Golf Academy in 2011, as well as recording a fourth place finish in the GA PGA Jr. Golf tour in 2011.
Outside of golf, she participates as a Second Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, and was the GA State Champion in Weapons. She is a rifle soloist in Color and Winter Guard, and has been a member of HOSA for the past four years, as well as being a volunteer at Fayette Piedmont Hospital.
Coach Joshua Kiper said the following about Devyn, “Devyn will bring a lot of experience of playing golf at a high level to Columbia College, and will be a great asset to our team. Her commitment level to the game, determination, and willingness to succeed are the character traits she will be bringing to a new program looking for success from the start.
