Soccer Wins Quarterfinal Match-up

Kingsport, TN- The Fighting Koalas soccer team picks up their first ever post-season win tonight against the Lady Buffs of Milligan College. Columbia no.6 upset Milligan no.3 in a thrilling match which went to Penalty Kicks.

Columbia's standout forward, Jessica Martinez scored the lone goal in regulation for the Fighting Koalas to push the AAC tournament quarterfinal match to overtime and then pentaly kicks. The Lady Buffs of Milligan finsihed 5-2 in the AAC and won against Columbia in their regular season meeting 2-1. This is the first post-season win in soccer program history.

This was the second upset for the AAC women's soccer tournament as Bryan College seeded no. 7 defeated no. 2 Tennessee Wesleyan earlier today after a double overtime match which also ended in penalty kicks. Columbia will go onto meet the Bryan College Lions in the semifinal match at Reinhardt in Waleska, GA this Thursday, November10th at 12:00 p.m.
