Soccer Leads in All-Academic AAC Honors

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Fighting Koalas soccer team finished their season with an overall record of 10-8-1, an appearance in the AAC post-season, and grabbed 13 AAC awards.

Columbia ended the year with a post-season appearance against the Lady Buffs of Milligan College in the Appalachain Athletic Conference Tournament. The Lady Buffs went onto to win the game 3-1 and moved forward to the next round of the tournament only to be defeated by the Lady bulldods of Tennessee Wesleyan.

The successful season lead to 3 members of The Fighting Koalas soccer program being honored on the 2nd and 3rd team all conference. Leading goal scorer for Columbia, Jessica Martinez and Clare Williamson were named to the 2nd team all conference. Junior defender, Chelsea Whiteman made the AAC 3rd team all conference.

Leading the way for the AAC women's soccer All-Academic team was Columbia with a total of 10 student-athletes named to the 53 member team.
