Volleyball's Aarika Munro Nets AAC Player of the Week

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Fighting Koalas received 2 awards this week from the Appalachain Athletic Conference as Columbia pushed to 20-9 overall. Aarika Munro earned the Appalachian Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week award after helping the Fighting Koalas to a 3-0 record last week, Columbia posted wins over Morris (S.C.), Bryan (Tenn.) and Virginia Intermont, dropping on one set on the week. The Koalas are 9-4 in the AAC. Munro, a junior outside hitter from Brea, Calif., posted a .328 hitting percentage with 29 kills in 67 attempts with seven errors. She also had 19 digs and three total blocks. Munro recorded a double-double in the 3-1 win over Bryan with 14 kills and 10 digs.

 Sophomore setter Jacqui Anderson was once again named Setter of the Week for the AAC conference as she not only leads the conference in assists per set but also reached 1000 assists on the season this past weekend. This is the third honor for Anderson as she continues to help lead her team on a 6 game winning streak.

The Fighting Koalas look ahead to compete against Converse College tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.
