Softball Supports SCOA
COLUMBIA, S.C.- The Columbia College softball team completed their community service project this past November. Parading in pink the Fighting Koalas volunteered with South Carolina Oncology Associates organization. SCOA sees approximately 500 cancer patients daily, with over half diagnosed with breast cancer.
The softball team helped package 75 holiday baskets and assembled an Angel Tree in SCOA's lobby. One of SCOA's nurse practitioners addressed to the team about the importance of breast cancer awareness, community service, and tips to staying healthy as young women.
The softball team will return to SCOA next year to help make the holiday season a little brighter for those in need. Sophomore team member, Kacie Davenports adds, " The patients that received the holiday baskets were overly thankful. The team walked away with a well-pleased feeling knowing that they helped those in need".
