Softball Post Season Updated Bracket

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The seedings and bracket for the 2012 Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament have been altered after a clarification of how forfeits are to be counted in regards to seeding for league tournaments, the AAC announced Monday.

Bluefield forfeited its final four conference games of the season - two games to Tennessee Wesleyan and two games to Columbia. The forfeited victories do count in Tennessee Wesleyan's and Columbia's win-loss record - as do the four losses for Bluefield, and the standings at the end of the regular season will not change. However, the games are considered losses for both teams for seeding purposes only according to the AAC Operational Policies for Sports.

Originally, Tennessee Wesleyan was the No. 1 seed, but now the Lady Bulldogs are the No. 3 seed with Milligan the new No. 1 and Reinhardt No. 2. All three teams remain regular-season conference tri-champions. Also, Columbia is now the No. 8 seed and will have to play a single-elimination game against No. 9 seed Bluefield. Montreat moves from No. 8 to No. 7.

Because of the late changes, Tuesday's slate of games has been reworked. Games will now begin at 11 a.m. with No. 3 Tennessee Wesleyan facing No. 6 Bryan. At 1 p.m., No. 2 Reinhardt plays No. 7 Montreat, while No. 4 Virginia Intermont takes on No. 5 Union at 3 p.m. The single-elimination game is set for 5 p.m. with Columbia squaring off against Bluefield. The winner of that contest takes on No. 1 Milligan at 7 p.m.

The tournament is being played at Domtar Park in Kingsport, Tenn.
