KINGSPORT,TN - The Appalachain Athletic Conference announced the 2012-2013 members of the AAC all-conference teams for softball. Columbia grabbed 5 second team all conference honors and 8 were named to the all-academic team.

Columbia College 2nd team all conference award winners are: Rochelle Lyda, Erin Walker, Jordan Atkinson, Crystal Hughes, and Samantha Santoro.

The Fighting Koala AAC All-Academic award winners include: Jordan Atkinson, Andrea Coker, Lindsay Knipp, Brittany Bendt, Alexis Lucas, Rochelle Lyda, Lauren Moore, Michelle Miller.

Newcomer, Rochelle Lyda was named AAC conference Golden Glove Infielder of the year. Lyda's stats backed up the honor as she finished the regular season with a fielding percentage of .974, 209 Put Outs, and tallied only 6 errors. Lyda's impressive defense couldn't help the Fighting Koalas this morning as they fell to Milligan in the first round.

Columbia began the AAC tournament today with a surprising loss to Milligan College 5-2. The upset to the No. 5 seed came after Columbia had swept the Lady Buffs in their previous meeting earlier in the regular season. Tied 2-2 in the 5th inning, Milligan hit a 2 run homerun in the 6th to go ahead before closing the game out in the 7th 5-2. The loss pushes Columbia to face the Lady Bulldogs of Union College tomorrow in Kingsport, TN at 11:00 a.m.
