CENTRAL, S.C. - The Fighting Koalas are one step closer to earning a trip to the SSAC tournament after a 4-0 weekend against Emmanuel College and Southern Wesleyan University.

Columbia Stuns Lady Barons
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Fighting Koalas stunned SSAC rival Brewton-Parker College in game two of the doubleheader with a 2-0 shutout. Coming off the biggest win in program history against Lee University, the Columbia College softball team won behind the pitching of freshman Alexis Lucas.

Softball Wins Weekend Double Header
CLEVELAND, GA - The Fighting Koalas swept the Truett-McConnell Lady Bears in an impressive double header on Friday, March 25th at Truett-McConnell. Coming off a heartbreaking loss to Brevard College, Columbia rebounded against their SSAC conference opponent, sweeping the series 3-1 and 5-3.

Softball Signs McGaha
COLUMBIA, S.C.- Head softball coach James Morrison announced the signing of 2011 recruit Cortney McGaha to the Fighting Koalas. Courtney comes to Columbia College from Belton Honea Path High School where she competed with their varsity softball team under the coaching of her father Steve McGaha.

Softball Swept by Tornados
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College softball team returned to Sutton Softball field today after a three week stretch on the road. The Fighting Koalas faced the Brevard College Tornados behind the pitching of freshman, Alexis Lucas. The tornados came out strong at their first at bat scoring one run on a sacrifice fly. Columbia answered back in the bottom of the 1st inning when Brittany Koester doubled to left field

Softball Celebrates Family Day
COLUMBIA, S.C. - Columbia College (6-12, 2-2) celebrated family day Saturday at Sutton Softball Field. Coming off of a conference opening split against Emmanuel College (6-12, 1-3) on Friday, including a 15-7 win in game 2, the Koalas split again Saturday against Southern Wesleyan University (1-17, 1-3).

Koalas Sweep the Tigers
COLUMBIA, S.C.- Columbia College swept the Benedict College Tigers today in a 2 game series at Sutton Softball Field. Columbia coming off of a 2-2 opening weekend looked fresh with Junior Samantha Santoro on the mound striking out her first two batters. It wasn’t until the top of the 4th inning where Benedict broke open and scored 2 runs. The Fighting Koalas fell behind in the 5th inning 4-2 and struggled to put any runners on base. Still down 4-2, Columbia gained momentum in the bottom of the 7th inning with a lead off single by Sophomore Katelyn McDaniel.

Koalas Split on Opening Day
COLUMBIA, S.C .- The Fighting Koalas took the first game of the series behind the pitching of freshman Brittany Barr. Barr threw a complete game, giving up 3 runs on 10 hits and one walk. All of the Koalas’ offense came with two outs in the first inning. Brittany Koester hit a solo homerun to give Columbia a 1-0 lead. Three batters later, Michele Miller came to the plate and delivered her first career home run. The three run shot gave Columbia a 4-0 lead.

Softball Picks Up Chessie Miller
LAKE VIEW, S.C.- Coach James Morrisson signed Chessie Miller from Lake View High School on December 9th, 2010. Miller, entering her senior season, has been an All State player since her eigth grade year and was named 1A Player of the Year after her freshman season.

Softball Supports SCOA
COLUMBIA, S.C.- The Columbia College softball team completed their community service project this past November. Parading in pink the Fighting Koalas volunteered with South Carolina Oncology Associates organization. SCOA sees approximately 500 cancer patients daily, with over half diagnosed with breast cancer.

Softball Adds Corner Infielder
LAURENS, S.C. – Columbia College softball coach announced the addition of Taylor Alexander to the softball program. Alexander, a corner infielder from Lauren High School, was a part of the 2010 team that won the District I and Region 4A championships.

Koalas Sign All-State Pitcher
Warren, OH - Columbia College softball coach, James Morrison, announced the signing of Lindsey Knipp from Jackson Milton High School. Knipp was a 1st Team All-State selection in Ohio and is the career record holder for strikeouts at Jackson Milton with 611.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Columbia College softball team received recognition from the SSAC for on the field performance and academic excellence. Brittany Bendt, Kacie Davenport, Samantha Santoro, Kelsey Nichols, and Sarah Gibson were all recipients of conference recognition.

Softball Completes Season at SSAC Tournament
COLUMBUS, GA - The Columbia College softball team, in its first year of competition, was knocked out of the SSAC tournament by Brewton-Parker College, 6-3. In the first round of the double elimination tournament, Columbia fell to #10 Shorter College, 9-0.

The Columbia College softball team took the field for their last back-to-back-to-back series. The Koalas played double headers on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but were defeated in each series.

Koalas Sweep Brewton-Parker
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Fighting Koalas have won four of their past six game, including a two game sweep of Brewton-Parker College Tuesday afternoon. Highlighting the victories was a two hit shutout thrown by freshman Samantha Santoro, who scored the only run of the game on a solo homerun in the third inning. Columbia captured game two in an exciting come from behind victory to win 5-3.

Davenport Homers Past Emmanuel
COLUMBIA, S.C. - Sophomore Kacie Davenport hit two home runs to propel Columbia past Emmanuel College in a SSAC double header 10-0, 5-4. The conference sweep moves the Fighting Koalas to 2-2 in the SSAC and 3-3 overall.

Koalas’ Bats Heat Up in Split
SAVANNAH, GA - The Fighting Koalas softball team took on Georgetown College (KY) and West Virginia Tech at the SCAD Smash Hit Tournament. In two games the Koalas pounded 22 hits, including 2 home runs. Columbia’s first win of the season came in the morning against Georgetown College, 8-7. The Koalas fell in game two 10-6 to West Virginia Tech.

Softball Slips in Home Opener
Columbia College stumbled in their first game in the SSAC when they took on conference champion Brenau University. Game one saw Anna Maness no hit the Koalas in a five inning, 12-0 victory. The Fighting Koalas settled down in game two, but were defeated again 5-2.

Softball Preseason Poll Released
The Columbia College Softball team is preparing to enter their first intercollegiate season competing in the Southern States Athletic Conference. The Fighting Koalas will have to prove themselves in a tough conference. Shorter College, Lee University, and Auburn-Motgomery were all ranked in the NAIA preseason top 25, followed by Brenau University who was the SSAC conference champion last season.

Head softball coach, James Morrison, announced the signing of Brittney Hinson to next year’s team. Hinson, a graduate of nearby Airport High School in West Columbia, will add to the team’s depth in the outfield next year.
